Intuit Unveils AI Agents and Partner Program at Connect 2026
Intuit’s Connect 2026 brought AI close agents, a five-tier ProPartner programme replacing ProAdvisor in early 2027, and a unified platform for firms.
Intuit used its Connect 2026 conference in Las Vegas in late October to announce a five-tier ProPartner programme that replaces ProAdvisor in early 2027, alongside AI agents for QuickBooks and Intuit Accountant Suite, including a month-end close agent now in pilot.
The common thread across the announcements was that agents handle routine work while the accountant makes the final call. Chairman and chief executive Sasan Goodarzi repeated that accountants are Intuit’s customers, a shift he announced earlier this year.
For firms that run clients on QuickBooks, the changes touch three budget lines: the software they pay Intuit for, the revenue share they can earn, and the staff time spent on cleanup and close. Several of the new tools carry a pilot or beta label, so little of it is generally available today.

What QuickBooks Intuit announced for firms
Intuit now tags every new feature as pilot, beta or generally available. A pilot is a small group of firms validating the product. Beta means early adopters can use it now.
The headline close tool is Agentic Books Close, in pilot. Agents follow a firm’s own close procedures inside the client’s QuickBooks file, handle routine work and flag items that need attention. Nothing posts without explicit review, and every action leaves an audit trail.
Pilot sign-up is open through late November. The pilot is free, but Intuit said a paid add-on will be required afterwards. It has not published a price.
Other additions to QuickBooks Accountant Suite, now branded Intuit Accountant Suite, include:
- Cross-client insights (beta): one dashboard of client KPIs, with automatic anomaly flags coming soon.
- Playbooks (beta): reusable onboarding templates by industry or service level, which AI can draft from a firm’s uploaded procedures and checklists for review and approval.
- Agent Studio (pilot): custom agents for a firm’s workflows or specific clients, built without technical skills.
- Agentic Advisory (coming soon): editable advisory packages with numbers verified against the ledger.
Diana Williams, vice president of Product for Accountants, demonstrated the suite additions. Intuit also cut load times, expanded the client list to show lead accountant, tax status and connection health, widened user groups and permissions, and added a Resolution Center in beta.
QuickBooks agents for cleanup and posting
Arundhati Singh, senior vice president of Platform, Small Business and Accountants, focused on automating cleanup and posting against firm-defined rules.
The Chart of Accounts Cleanup Agent proposes a plan to consolidate and deduplicate accounts, inactivate unused ones, rename entries and correct account and detail types. It inactivates rather than deletes, and it only changes transactions dated after the books-closed date.
A separate ready-to-post feature prefills transactions field by field for bulk posting. Exceptions are flagged with the relevant policy and reason, and firms can set required fields and materiality thresholds per client or across the firm.
Intuit also announced a “needs attention” module that flags rising unpaid invoices and benchmarks collections against anonymised similar businesses. It comes with a one-click weekly invoice chaser. Accountants and clients can create QuickBooks invoices from live customer data inside Claude and ChatGPT, though a third-party account may be required.
Platform changes include one-click locking of parent accounts and a unified audit log covering AI actions, integrations and authorisations. Payroll gains self-service corrections and onboarding and benefits enrolment before a new hire’s first day. A shared inbox for client communication flags missing items, and a KPI scorecard ships with more than 100 preset metrics.
ProPartner replaces ProAdvisor in early 2027
The most consequential change for firms is the ProPartner programme, which succeeds the QuickBooks ProAdvisor programme. Intuit’s programme page says January 2027, and its FAQ says early 2027. ProAdvisor stays in force until then.
The five tiers are Member, Partner, Preferred Partner, Premier Partner and Elite Partner. Joining is free through the free Core plan of Intuit Accountant Suite.
Firms keep community access, training, 30% off QuickBooks and tiered support. New benefits include a larger revenue share, access to the ProPartner Network and free Intuit Accountant Suite Accelerate for Premier and Elite partners.
Intuit’s programme page lists a three-year revenue share on QuickBooks Online and Workforce that rises by tier:
- Partner: 10%
- Preferred Partner: 15%
- Premier Partner: 20%
- Elite Partner: 25%
Members receive no revenue share. The page also lists a 30% share in year one and 15% in years two and three for Intuit Enterprise Suite, without tying it clearly to specific tiers.
Moving beyond the Member tier requires one certified team member and one active connected client. The page names QuickBooks Online Level 1, QuickBooks Payroll and Intuit Enterprise Suite as qualifying certifications. Trial clients and QuickBooks Ledger clients do not count. Firms advance by earning points for software spend, certifications and other activity, and Intuit has said it will publish more detail in the autumn.
Intuit says tier status shown to firms is an estimate and not guaranteed, and programme terms can change without notice. Firms can check a projected tier in the ProPartner Tier Preview inside Intuit Accountant Suite.
One platform: what unified means for existing users
Intuit described QuickBooks, Intuit Enterprise Suite and Intuit Accountant Suite as one connected platform, so accountants and clients share questions, conversations and data in one place. Intuit Intelligence is the layer behind it. It draws on 40 years of accounting data and the patterns of 10 million businesses, and routes each task to AI, automation or one of more than 650,000 accountants in Intuit’s network.
Chief technology officer Alex Balazs said that after speaking with more than 40 firms, one point stood out: clients expect speed and fresh insight, but responsibility for correct financial outcomes still rests with the firm. Firm-defined policies and playbooks guide the AI, and the audit log tracks each action.
The ProPartner programme sits inside Intuit Accountant Suite, and the free Core plan is the entry point. Firms that stay on older tools will need to move to the suite to join. Intuit has not said what happens to firms that decline.
The ProPartner Network, coming soon, will match firms with businesses by industry, revenue band, systems and capacity. QuickBooks will prompt growing businesses to find an accountant, and the suite will surface leads based on a firm’s profile. That makes the firm’s profile a source of new clients, and firms comparing their options can review QuickBooks alternatives before committing to the suite.
Mid-market tools and the talent pipeline
Wyatt Jenkins, senior vice president of Mid-Market Product, outlined four industry editions of Intuit Enterprise Suite. Construction and Manufacturing’s inventory foundation are in beta. Nonprofit and Franchise are in pilot, though the suite is available today for franchises and multi-unit operators.
Agent Studio is also in pilot for mid-market work. Intuit has embedded engineers with about 20 firms to build agents with them, and firm-built agents may later appear as branded agents inside QuickBooks and Intuit Enterprise Suite.
Sandboxes, in beta, let a firm build a customised Enterprise Suite environment preloaded with a prospect’s data. A migration manager in pilot tracks QuickBooks Desktop clients and their readiness to move. It also supports moves from NetSuite and Sage. An Early Access Program lets firms control whether and who on their team tries pilot and beta features.
The roadmap includes global consolidation, custom objects and advanced revenue recognition. Intuit announced its acquisition of Sequence, an AI-native revenue management platform, a week before the event.
On staffing, Intuit pointed to client advisory as the fastest-growing service area in public accounting and hiring as a top constraint. Its Accounting Futures programme offers educators QuickBooks and advisory curriculum, free QuickBooks Level 1 certification, a Client Advisory Services Foundations badge, mentors and paid micro-internships. Intuit has committed to educating more than one million students over five years.
Firms weighing agents against the rest of their practice management software have a few dates to plan around. Agentic Books Close pilot sign-up closes in late November, and ProPartner replaces ProAdvisor in early 2027. Intuit says it will publish more detail on how firms earn tier points this autumn.
