What is a QuickBooks ProAdvisor?

Definition

A QuickBooks ProAdvisor is an accountant or bookkeeper who has joined Intuit's free ProAdvisor programme. Members get QuickBooks software for their firm, discounts for clients, training through ProAdvisor Academy and support, and move from Silver to Elite tier as they earn points from client subscriptions and certifications.

How the ProAdvisor programme works

Joining is free: a firm signs up for Intuit Accountant Suite and starts at Silver. Points decide the tier. On the US programme, Silver runs from 0 to 499 points, Gold from 500 to 2,399, Platinum from 2,400 to 6,999 and Elite from 7,000. Each client QuickBooks Online subscription earns 50 points, QuickBooks Online Advanced, Payments or Workforce Elite 75, and Bill Pay Basic or Contractor Payments 25. A current QuickBooks Online Level 1 or Desktop Enterprise certification earns 100 points, and QuickBooks Online Level 2 or Workforce certification 200. Benefits include QuickBooks Online, Workforce, Bill Pay and Time Tracking for the firm, client discounts, phone and chat support with premium support at higher tiers, digital ProAdvisor badges, and discounts on ProConnect Tax of 30%, 35% or 40% by tier. Certifications cover QuickBooks Online Level 1 and Level 2, QuickBooks Online Advanced, Desktop, Desktop Enterprise and Workforce, and each must be renewed every year with a shorter recertification exam. Clients find firms through the ProAdvisor directory by location, industry, services and software; a firm must be certified to be listed. ProAdvisor Premier for desktop costs $1,874 a year per user and Enterprise $2,999 a year per user. Intuit ProPartner Accountants succeeds the programme in early 2027.
