What is Claude for accountants?
Accountants use Claude, Anthropic's AI assistant, to draft client emails and reports, review documents, build and check Excel models, and query live accounting data through connectors for Xero and QuickBooks. Paid plans add Claude for Excel and Cowork, which runs multi-step tasks such as month-end preparation for review.

What Claude does for accounting work
Claude for Excel, available on all paid plans, answers questions about any cell, updates assumptions without breaking formulas and builds multi-tab models, with each edit highlighted for review. Cowork runs longer tasks across chosen folders and tools, and Anthropic's finance plugin for it covers journal entries, reconciliations, financial statements, variance analysis and SOX testing. Connectors are available on every plan, including the free one: Xero's connector reads profit, cash, invoices and aged receivables but cannot change data, and Intuit's QuickBooks Labs connector, in beta since October 2026, can categorise bank transactions, reconcile and create invoices. Plans start at US$17 a month for Pro billed annually, and Team seats cost US$20 a month billed annually, for 2 to 150 seats. Anthropic does not train on content from Team and Enterprise plans by default, while personal plans let users opt out. Anthropic Academy's courses and badges are free; its proctored certifications are for Claude partners only.

How much does Claude cost for an accounting firm?+
Team seats cost US$20 a month billed annually or US$25 monthly, for 2 to 150 seats, with premium seats at US$100. Pro costs US$17 a month billed annually for one person, and Enterprise starts at US$20 per seat plus usage, with a 20-seat minimum.
Does Claude train on client data?+
Not on Team and Enterprise plans by default: Anthropic's commercial terms say it may not train models on customer content. On Free, Pro and Max plans users choose in their privacy settings whether chats can be used.
Can Claude connect to Xero and QuickBooks?+
Yes. Xero's connector reads live accounting data and is read-only. Intuit's QuickBooks Labs connector, in beta, can also categorise transactions, reconcile and create invoices, and switches between client companies.
Is there a Claude course for accountants?+
Anthropic Academy offers free courses, including AI Fluency, with badges that can be added to LinkedIn. Its four proctored Claude certifications are open only to members of the Claude Partner Network.
