What is the Xero Square integration?
The Xero Square integration is Square's own app that posts a daily summary of Square sales into Xero. It separates processing fees into a fees account and captures gift cards, tips, surcharges and taxes, so Square payouts match the bank feed. Square built the app and Amaka, an integrations provider, handles the setup.

How the Xero Square integration works
Square builds the integration and lists it in the Xero App Store, with Amaka, an accounting integrations provider, running the setup. Once connected, daily Square transactions sync automatically and appear in Xero as a daily Square sales summary. Xero creates bank rules so Square processing fees post to a fees account, and the summary captures gift cards, tips, surcharges and taxes for VAT and sales tax reporting. Shared data includes accounts, contacts, invoices, credit notes, payments, tax rates and tracking categories. The listing offers a free trial, and new Square customers who use Xero get $10,000 in fee-free processing, valued in local currency. The app is available in Australia, Canada, Ireland, the UK and the US. In the UK, Square charges 1.75% on in-person payments with UK cards and 1.4% + 25p online. Sellers who also trade on marketplaces use a multi-channel connector: Link My Books includes Square on all plans from £26 a month (excluding VAT) for 500 orders, and Synder supports Square from US$65 a month.
