Why it matters
Modus raised $85 million within a year of founding, one of the largest first rounds in audit technology. Its model is different from selling software: it buys into mid-sized firms and rebuilds their audit practice on its platform, the same private-equity-meets-AI playbook now reshaping US accounting.
