Numeral Launches Sales Tax Compliance Partner Program

Numeral’s new partner programme offers multiyear rewards, a Platinum tier and white-label options, weeks after its $100 million Series C.

Numeral Launches Sales Tax Compliance Partner Program

Numeral, the San Francisco sales tax compliance platform, launched its Numeral Partner Program on October 26, a sales tax compliance partner program that pays accounting firms, resellers and integrators multiyear rewards, five weeks after a $100 million Series C.

The programme is open to accounting and advisory firms, value-added resellers, systems integrators and technology providers. For a firm that advises clients on sales tax, it adds a way to be paid for work that has so far been billed only by the hour.

The timing matters for finance teams in the US, the UK and the EU alike. Any business selling across US state lines now has to track sales tax nexus state by state, and European sellers into the US face the same rules. Advisers who can offer the software and the filing work together hold a stronger position than those who refer clients elsewhere.

What the sales tax compliance partner program offers

Numeral lets each partner choose how to work with it. Partners can refer clients, resell or white-label the platform, or build Numeral into their own practices and products. They can also implement the platform for clients and charge for that work as a separate revenue stream.

On the partner page, Numeral describes the program’s white-label route as an end-to-end sales tax compliance service in which Numeral prepares and files the returns under the partner’s own brand. The page lists accounting firms, fractional CFOs, technology partners and software providers as eligible.

The reward is recurring revenue. Partners can keep the incentive from a referral or pass it to the client at the level of the individual opportunity. Both choices count toward Platinum status, so a firm that discounts for clients is not penalised in the tiering.

Platinum partners receive a dedicated partner manager and a curated path through sales, onboarding and ongoing production support. They also get featured placement in the partner directory, co-marketing and priority access to customer opportunities that Numeral sources itself.

All partners get training and access to Numeral’s tax specialists. The partner directory lists firms that can support compliance work, which puts a partner in front of businesses already looking for help.

“Our partners are the trusted voice their clients turn to when compliance gets complicated.”

Sona Akmakjian, global head of accounting strategy and partnerships, Numeral

Akmakjian said in a statement that the programme helps partners “turn that trust into growth and more value to mutual clients, with multiyear rewards, dedicated support and new ways to expand the services they offer.”

Numeral’s funding and the partner programme

Numeral announced the $100 million Series C on September 23, led by Insight Partners. Salesforce Ventures, Geodesic, Benchmark, Mayfield, FCVC, Y Combinator and Uncork also took part. Total funding now stands at $157 million.

The previous round was a $35 million Series B in September 2025, so the company has nearly tripled its capital in 13 months. Numeral was founded in 2023 by Sam Ross, who is chief executive, and Matt DuVall, the chief technology officer.

The company reported a 327% year-on-year rise in total transaction volume and expects its tax engine to process more than 80 million transactions. It plans to use the new money to widen its offering for software, manufacturing, distribution and wholesale businesses.

Those are customers with multi-state sales and often a patchwork of billing and ERP systems. They are also the clients that accounting firms and ERP consultants already advise, which explains why Numeral is courting those channels now.

Numeral has not published a customer count or revenue figure. It has also not disclosed commission rates, the length of the reward period or the threshold for Platinum status, so the economics of the sales tax compliance partner program cannot yet be priced.

How it compares with Avalara and the field

Numeral is entering a channel that its larger rivals built long ago. Avalara’s partner programme offers four routes: refer products for a commission, implement them for customers, embed AvaTax in a platform with bundled pricing, or integrate it and receive a revenue share.

Avalara aims that programme at software developers, marketplaces, resellers and service firms, and also at CPAs, bookkeepers and boutique practices. Its newer structure sets Premier, Preferred and Authorized levels, with expected support response times of one hour, four hours and eight hours.

The routes on offer are close to Numeral’s. Referral, implementation and embedding appear in both programmes, so the structure alone does not set Numeral apart. The difference will be in the money: how long the rewards run, what share a partner keeps and how much of the filing work Numeral takes on.

Numeral stresses recurring, multiyear rewards and a white-label service in which it files the returns. For a small practice that wants to sell sales tax compliance through a partner program without hiring filing staff, that service carries more weight than the commission rate. Firms weighing the two platforms can read the Avalara and Numeral comparison.

Vertex and TaxJar, now part of Stripe, run their own partner channels. Their current commission and reward terms were not available to compare for this article.

What accounting firms should weigh before signing up

A resale or white-label arrangement changes a firm’s liability as well as its revenue. A firm that puts its name on returns filed by a vendor has to be sure of the accuracy of that vendor’s filings, and its engagement letters and quality procedures should say who is responsible for what.

The choice of route also affects the client relationship. A referral leaves the client contract with Numeral. Reselling leaves it with the firm. Implementation work sits between the two, billed by the firm on top of the software fee.

Firms should ask Numeral for written terms on four points before committing:

  • The length of the reward period and what happens when a client renews or leaves.
  • The rate for each route, and whether a rate passed to a client still counts toward Platinum.
  • Who owns the client relationship and the data under a white-label arrangement.
  • What the threshold for Platinum status is and how often it is reviewed.

Sales tax software is one part of a wider market of indirect tax technology, and firms that sell it to clients should compare the options in tax and compliance software before settling on one partner. Numeral covers US sales tax, so UK and EU practices will find it relevant mainly for clients that sell into the US.

What comes next for Numeral’s partners

Numeral has not said how many partners it expects to sign or when it will publish tier thresholds. Firms can apply through the form on its partner page now.

The next test comes from the company’s own results. Numeral said it expects its tax engine to process more than 80 million transactions, and that volume will show whether the partner channel and the Series C spending turn into customers.
