What is MyInvois e-invoicing in Malaysia?
MyInvois is the e-invoicing system of Malaysia's Inland Revenue Board (LHDN). Businesses submit each invoice, through the free MyInvois portal or by API from their own software, to be validated before it is shared with the buyer. The requirement has been phased in by annual turnover, starting on 1 August 2024 with businesses above RM100 million.

How MyInvois e-invoicing works
The seller sends invoice data in the required structure to LHDN, which validates it in near real time and returns a unique identifier and a validation link, shown on the invoice as a QR code. The buyer can reject or the seller cancel a validated invoice within a short window. Phases are set by annual turnover: above RM100 million from 1 August 2024, above RM25 million from 1 January 2025 and above RM5 million from 1 July 2025, followed by smaller businesses. LHDN has changed the lower thresholds and exemption level more than once, so its published timeline is the reference for smaller firms. Sales to consumers can be covered by a consolidated monthly e-invoice. Fonoa and Avalara connect international groups to MyInvois.

When did e-invoicing start in Malaysia?+
On 1 August 2024 for businesses with annual turnover above RM100 million, followed by those above RM25 million on 1 January 2025 and above RM5 million on 1 July 2025. Smaller businesses follow LHDN's later phases.
Is MyInvois free to use?+
The MyInvois portal is free and suits businesses with few invoices. Businesses with larger volumes usually connect their accounting or ERP system through the MyInvois API, directly or through a provider.
Do sales to consumers need an e-invoice in Malaysia?+
A consumer can ask for an individual e-invoice. Otherwise the seller can issue a consolidated e-invoice each month covering sales for which no individual e-invoice was requested.
