Audit software

What is audit software?

Audit software is the set of tools an audit firm uses to plan, perform, document and review an audit: engagement and workpaper management, client requests and evidence collection, data extraction and analytics, confirmations, and increasingly AI that drafts testing and reads documents. It is separate from the client's accounting system, which it examines.

The 2024 to 2026 wave brought AI: DataSnipper reached a $1 billion valuation for document matching inside Excel, Fieldguide raised $125 million for agentic audit, MindBridge and Caseware's AiDA add analytics and drafting, and Modus raised $85 million to rebuild audit practices inside firms it invests in.
