ERP and general ledger software: 14 vendors compared
The ledger is the system of record, and it is being fought over from both ends. NetSuite, Sage Intacct and Business Central hold the mid-market; QuickBooks and Xero hold small business; and a new set of AI-native ERPs, led by Rillet, Campfire, Light and Lensing, has raised more than $500 million to take the companies in between. Odoo competes with all of them on price. Every vendor below has a full profile.

What is the difference between a general ledger and an ERP?+
The general ledger is the book of accounts. An ERP wraps it with operations: orders, inventory, procurement, projects and planning. Small companies buy a ledger; growing ones buy an ERP or add modules.
When should a company move off QuickBooks or Xero?+
Usually at the second legal entity, the first foreign currency, or when revenue recognition and consolidation are being done in spreadsheets. Most of the AI-native ERPs are built for exactly that moment.
Which ERP vendors are AI-native?+
Rillet, Campfire, DualEntry, Light, Lensing, Doss and Quanta were built around automation from the start; NetSuite, Sage Intacct and Business Central have added AI to established platforms.
