Financial close software: 14 vendors compared
The close is where finance software spends the most money and the most time. Two incumbents built large businesses on it, BlackLine for enterprises and FloQast for the mid-market, and since 2024 a group of AI-native companies has raised more than $250 million to have agents prepare reconciliations and journal entries for the accountant to review. Every vendor below has a full profile: founders, funding, pricing and customers.

What does financial close software do?+
Runs the month-end checklist, automates reconciliations and journal entries, manages review and sign-off, and produces the audit trail. Newer tools use AI agents to prepare the work for the accountant to approve.
What is the difference between BlackLine, FloQast and the AI-native close tools?+
BlackLine serves large enterprises with deep reconciliation and intercompany modules; FloQast built for mid-market controllers on top of the ERP; Numeric, Maxima, Stacks and Nominal start from AI agents that do the preparation rather than organise it.
How much does close software cost?+
BlackLine and FloQast sell annual enterprise contracts, typically five to six figures. The AI-native vendors price per company by size and do not publish rates.
